Time Waster Websites

Tired of your usual procrastination sites? Well good news- I have plenty and I am happy to share them with you. :) Take a gander at some of these:

http://bodyodd.msnbc.msn.com/ -- This one has lots of posts about weird medical phenomena. Right now there are stories about a woman being paralyzed by a hickey and a syndrome that makes your eyes look like cat eyes. How can you resist that?
www.indieshuffle.com -- Like to find cool obscure bands? Look here! Lots of different genres, mostly stuff that would usually fly under the radar. Impress your friends with your hip musical tastes. Or just waste some time listening to new music. Whatever.
www.citydailyphoto.com --People from all over the world take a photo a day and post it on their blogs. All the blogs are compiled here. See what's going on in Bosnia, Belgrade, Buenos Aires, or even right down the road in Birmingham.
http://blog.freepeople.com/category/gallery/ -- Features folksy artists and quirky projects. Some of it is great, some is just strange. Good to look at while you're listening to your hip new music from indieshuffle.

Happy procrastinating everybody! :)

I Believe in Auburn and I love it!

War Eagle! As you may have heard, Auburn won the BCS National Champioinship. If you haven't heard, then you are probably living under a rock and therefore don't have an internet connection so you won't be reading this anyway. There were 78,000 people at the celebration in the stadium today! In case you were wondering, only 35,000 fans showed up when Bama had their celebration last year (just thought I'd throw that out there). You can say what you want about Cam Newton, and you can have your own opinion on the Tigers/War Eagle tradition, but there's no denying that Auburn has some of the best team spirit in the nation. It's cheesy, but the whole "Auburn family" thing is true. Auburn fans stick together, and I couldn't be prouder to be a part of the Auburn family, win or lose. Although I must admit, it feels pretty dang good to be the champs!!

The Auburn Creed
I believe that this is a practical world and that I can count only on what I earn. Therefore, I believe in work, hard work.

I believe in education, which gives me the knowledge to work wisely and trains my mind and my hands to work skillfully.

I believe in honesty and truthfulness, without which I cannot win the respect and confidence of my fellow men.

I believe in a sound mind, in a sound body and a spirit that is not afraid, and in clean sports that develop these qualities.

I believe in obedience to law because it protects the rights of all.

I believe in the human touch, which cultivates sympathy with my fellow men and mutual helpfulness and brings happiness for all.

I believe in my Country, because it is a land of freedom and because it is my own home, and that I can best serve that country by "doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with my God."

And because Auburn men and women believe in these things, I believe in Auburn and love it.

Crayons & Love

Life is like a box of crayons. Most people are the 8-color boxes, but what you're really looking for are the 64-color boxes with the sharpeners on the back...so when I meet someone who's an 8-color type.. I'm like, "hey girl, magenta!" and she's like, "oh, you mean purple!" and she goes off on her purple thing, and I'm like, "no - I want magenta!"”- John Mayer
I’ve only met a handful of magenta people. I’ve been lucky that most of them have stuck around and become some of my best friends. Once you find a magenta, it’s really hard to let them escape back into the 8-color world. It’s like when your favorite crayon rolls under the cabinet where you can’t get it- you can try to use yellow instead of goldenrod, but your picture is never quite the same.
I feel like my favorite crayon has rolled under the cabinet. I tried and tried to get it back, but I think it’s time to accept that it’s just lost. You can’t keep holding out for a certain color, or your picture will never be finished. So for now I think I’ll move on to a different part of my picture. Work on a nice robin’s egg blue sky, perhaps. Eventually maybe I’ll find a way to get the goldenrod back; maybe someone will move that cabinet. Or maybe I’ll find a substitute for goldenrod- macaroni n’ cheese, possibly. Not necessarily better, just different.
So here’s to working on a different part of my picture. For the time being anyway.
I hope you all have a Tickle Me Pink day!

Latest Endeavor

Every now and then I get on a creative kick. Right now I'm into making jewelry. It all started with this little shop in downtown Auburn called Perch. You choose your materials and they help you make whatever you want. It's a little expensive, but completely worth it. (Plus you can just learn the technique and go make more for way cheaper on your own.) The inside has a really relaxed, country chic/eclectic feel.

You can check out more of their jewelry here: http://www.perchbeadstudio.com/
